Winemaking Notes
50% Sangiovese, 10% Montepulciano, 10% Nebbiolo, 20% Zinfandel, 3% Corvina, 7 % Pinot Grigio
Aged in three New French Oak barrels, one New American Oak barrel, and one 2nd use American Oak barrel for 19 months.
In 2017 we produced this wine as a field blend selection from multiple vineyards and cofermented the grapes for a tighter integration of each variety in the final wine.
Tasting Notes
Dried cherry, strawberry, dried blueberry, dried herbs, flower petals, and dark chocolate on the nose. Beautiful balance of earth and fruit characteristics typical of Sangiovese and Montepulciano. Hefty tannic weight on the front to mid palate, fresh cherry flavors and a savory element on the finish.
Food Pairings
Wild boar, strong hard cheeses, lamb chops, wood-fired pizza topped with charcuterie.
