100% syrah. We co-fermented the syrah with pressed viognier skins in the Côte-Rôtie style of the Rhône Valley, adding complexity. We aged in 50% New American and 50% New French Oak for 18 months.
Deep in color, as syrah should be, with hints of dried berries and blueberry balanced with spice and perfume aromas. Structured tannins with a bright acid backbone make for an excellent food pairing wine.
The syrah grape originated in France and was made famous in the Northern Rhône Valley. Today, it is a world traveler grown in many wine regions because of its versatility and is the same grape known as Shiraz in Australia. We love it for its depth and penchant for peppery and smoky notes.
