Tasting Notes
Ruby in color, the nose of raspberries and black cherries with a kiss of new French oak carries through to the tasting with cranberry in the center. Medium bodied but still round in the mid-palate, this Russian River Valley Pinot delivers bright fruits and French oak through a long finish.
Food Pairing
This is a versatile wine for food. It will pair well with chicken in all preparations from roast to the casserole and is very good with salmon in light dishes such as steamed or baked salmon as well as sauced salmon dishes. Also, very good with lighter soft and hard cheeses. It has a classic Pinot personality for those who enjoy a glass at cocktail hour.
About Pinot Noir
The great red grape of Burgundy France and perhaps the greatest single varietal wine grape. It expresses itself best on its own, which is in contrast to most of its sibling wine grapes varietals. Harder to grow than most varietals it requires a little more temperate climate than California provides and fares best with occasional cloud cover. It can be lighter in style or profound and long-lived. It is established as world class in Burgundy France, Oregon, New Zealand and cooler regions of California that enjoy coastal influences.
